Spooky Season Crafts

Spooky Season is practically here, and with that comes some cool and creative crafts!

Below are some of my favourite, easy and fun crafts to do with kids as Halloween approaches.

Ghostly Window Décor

What you will need:

  • Fresh leaves (avoid crunchy or dry leaves as they won't peel off well)
  • PVA Glue (I used Elmer)
  • Small paint brush
  • Black paper or plain paper and a colouring pencil

Instructions:

  1. Take a leaf and cover the front in glue. You can paint the glue on or squeeze it onto the leaf and spread it around - whichever is easiest for you!
  2. Make some eyes and a mouth from the black paper. You can cut these from black paper (for ease you could use a hole punch), or draw them on whatever paper you have, colour them in then cut them out.
  3. Stick the eyes and mouth onto your ghost.
  4. Wait until the glue has completely dried, depending on how thick your glue was this could take a day or two.
  5. Once dried, carefully peel the dried glue from the leaf.
  6. Using the shiny side stick them to your window!

Leaf Ghosties

What you will need:

  • Leaves
  • White paint
  • Black paint or Black permanent marker
  • Paint brushes

Instructions:

  1. Take a walk and collect as many fallen leaves as you'd like
  2. Begin by painting the leaves white
  3. Once dry, use the black paint or permanent marker to draw the ghosts eyes and mouth
  4. It's as simple as that!

Painted Pumpkin Rocks

What you will need:

  • Flat rocks
  • Paint brush
  • Orange paint
  • Black paint (a permanent marker or felt tip pen can also be used)
  • Green paint (a permanent marker or felt tip pen can also be used)

Instructions:

  1. Go for a walk outside and hunt for some rocks with a flat surface. (This will make it much easier to paint on)
  2. Apply a layer of orange paint to the top side of the rock and allow to dry. (Depending on the rock colour, you may need to apply more than one coat.)
  3. Add a a little patch of green to the top - this is the pumpkin stork.
  4. Finally, using black paint / pen draw on your pumpkins eyes, nose and mouth.
  5. And there you have it, your very own mini pumpkin rock!

You can also paint your rocks different colours and create other Halloween creatures, such as:

  • Green = Frankenstein's Monster
  • White = Skulls
  • Black, with 4 sticks poking out with side = Spiders
  • White stipes = Mummys
